AI Image Generator Template
AI Image Generator Template
Generate custom AI images from a form and save them automatically - no design tools required.
Stop sourcing stock photos or waiting on designers. Use this template to build a custom AI image generator that takes text prompts from a form, sends them to OpenAI's DALL-E model, and stores the resulting images in a Zapier Table and optionally in Google Drive - all without writing a line of code.
Whether you're generating marketing visuals, social media graphics, presentation images, or creative assets for your team, this template gives you a repeatable, on-demand image creation workflow powered by OpenAI.
How this template works
This template connects a Zapier Interface form to OpenAI's DALL-E model. Here's the end-to-end process:
- Submit a text prompt through the built-in Zapier form. You can include fields like image style, art direction, or subject matter.
- A Zap sends the form submission to OpenAI, which generates the image based on your prompt.
- The generated image link is stored in a Zapier Table and displayed on the Interface home page.
- Optionally, the image is saved to Google Drive or another storage app of your choice before the OpenAI link expires.
Once your Zaps are published, the workflow runs automatically - no manual steps needed.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need an OpenAI API key?
Yes. You'll need an active OpenAI account with API access. Connect your API key in the Zap editor and the template handles the rest.
What image formats does this generate?
The template generates images via OpenAI's DALL-E model. The output is a hosted image link. You can configure the Zap to download and save the image to Google Drive in PNG format.
Can I share this with my team?
Yes. The Zapier Interface comes with a shareable link that can be set to public, password-protected, or restricted to managed users. You can also embed the form on your website.
How long do OpenAI image links stay active?
OpenAI image links expire after a few hours. The template includes an optional step to save images to Google Drive before they expire, so your files are preserved.
Can I customize the prompt fields?
Yes. You can add, remove, or rename form fields in the Interface builder. Fields like image style, art direction, and subject can all be mapped directly into the prompt sent to OpenAI.
